Check-in / Check-out

Check-in is from 2pm, but during the busy summer season check-in may be delayed till 3pm. Your apartment or studio may be available prior to this time, however we cannot guarantee access before 2pm. Check-out is 10am. Early check-in or late check-out may be available by arrangement subject to availability and an additional charge.

Quoted Rates

Rates quoted in your booking are based on the selected type of accommodation required, number of occupants and length of stay and any alterations to these details may affect the nightly rate charged.

Guaranteed Reservations

A valid credit card is required to guarantee all bookings. We accept credit cards including Visa and Mastercard. Your card will not be charged until check-in, but is held as security for your reservation and utilised for any applicable cancellation or non-arrival charges. This card may also be used for any charges remaining unpaid on check-out.

Payment at check-in

Payment is requested on check in. A valid credit card will be requested from the occupant of the apartment or studio when checking in. Payment via third party may be arranged in advance by contacting The Fairways directly. For guests without a credit card, photo ID will be requested and full cash payment of accommodation plus a bond for incidental charges may be required at check-in. Bonds vary by length of stay.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations may be made up until 14 days prior to day of arrival for no charge. After this time apartments or studio’s cancelled will be charged the full rate. Cancellations for Groups and Corporate bookings will be advised at time of booking. By agreeing to these terms and conditions you acknowledge that the named guest will be personally liable for all accommodation and incidental costs charged to the apartment or studio after check-in, for any loss or damage to the apartment or studio during their stay, for any cancellation or non-arrival fees, and for any debt collection costs incurred.

Events (Kaikoura Beach Hop, Races etc) have a special cancellation policy: Free of charge up to 4 weeks prior to date pf arrival, after this time we will charge the cost for the first night.

Over long weekends, statutory holidays or event weekends cancellations may be made up until 14 days prior to arrival for no charge.  Any other dates cancellations may be made up until 14 days prior to day of arrival for no charge.

Group Booking (3 Apartments & more):

Cancellations for Groups and Corporate bookings will be advised at time of booking.

Early departure

Earlier departure than the reserved date may not result in a refund, unless The Fairways is able to replace the booking. In the event of a late cancellation every effort will be made to resell the apartment or studio and you will only be responsible for the cost if this is unsuccessful. To enable the best possible chance of reselling the apartment or studio early departures must check-out by 10am as the apartment or studio will need to be cleaned.

Internet usage and copyright

The Fairways provides free internet access to enable its guests to access email accounts and to search for information via the internet. Under New Zealand Copyright Law the rights holders (owners) of movies, TV shows, and music can now send fines of up to $15,000 to The Fairways if their copyrights are infringed. If you infringe any rights holders copyright, and The Fairways is fined, those fines will be passed on to you.

Damages

Damage to The Fairways’ property should be reported immediately. Any extra cleaning, repairs or replacements required to restore our guest apartments or studio’s or property to its normal condition will be charged to the registered guest at replacement cost or market rates, plus a charge for any resultant loss of income if applicable. We will take a pre-authorisation of your credit card on day of arrival to cover costs in case of any incidental damages.

Apartment/Studio condition

If your apartment or studio is left in an unsatisfactory state, this includes, excessive rubbish, misuse of The Fairways’ property, any unhygienic uncleanliness, soiling, excessive mess or odour in the kitchen, which causes excessive and unwarranted cleaning time by The Fairways staff, The Fairways reserves the right to charge for the cost of extra cleaning, repairs or replacements required to restore our guest apartments or studio’s or property to its normal condition.

Smoking

There is strictly NO SMOKING inside the apartments or studios. If a smoking violation occurs in an apartment or studio, including disabling smoke alarms, The Fairways reserves the right to charge the registered guest a $150.00 non-refundable fee. We appreciate your co-operation in ensuring our guests and employees are not subject to second-hand smoke.

No pets

There is strictly NO PETS allowed.

Child Policy

The Fairways allows a child up to 5 years of age to stay for free using the existing bedding. Baby porter cots are complimentary upon request and subject to availability. Individuals above the age of 12 are considered as adults by The Fairways.

Extra bed policy

Additional rollaway beds are allowed at an extra charge; subject to availability.

Minimum stay

A 2-night minimum stay is required over NZ Statutory Holidays or on special events.
